Alter Servers Association

The Altar Servers Association is a dedicated group of young individuals who assist in the liturgical celebrations of the parish, playing a vital role in maintaining the solemnity and reverence of the Holy Mass. Serving at the altar is both a privilege and a commitment, offering a unique opportunity to grow spiritually while contributing to the worship of the Church.

Alter Server Role and Responsibilities

Altar Servers assist the priest during Mass and other liturgical services by:

  • Carrying the cross and candles during processions.
  • Holding the missal for the priest.
  • Preparing the altar for the Eucharistic celebration.
  • Ringing the bells at appropriate moments during the Mass.
  • Ensuring a smooth and orderly flow of the liturgy.

Through their service, Altar Servers become more engaged in the faith, developing a deeper understanding of the liturgy and its significance.

A Pathway to Vocations

Serving at the altar is often a stepping stone towards discerning a vocation to the priesthood or religious life. Many priests and religious began their journey as altar servers, learning discipline, reverence, and love for the Eucharist from a young age. The role fosters a spirit of dedication, humility, and service, which are essential virtues in any vocation within the Church.
